The inaugural round of Monochrome GT4 Australia last weekend saw the impressive debut of the all-new Ford Mustang GT4 Dark Horse, as Miedecke Motorsport claimed victory in both races despite having received the car just days before the event.

Both races featured intense competition, with the #35 Mustang driven by Miedecke and Gray closely challenged by the Method Motorsports McLaren piloted by Flack and Hayman throughout the weekend. Ultimately, Gray’s strong performance in Race 1 coupled with a drive-through penalty for the #25 Method Motorsports car in Race 2 secured a double victory for Gray and Miedecke.

Despite starting from the fifth position in Race 1, the #35 Mustang displayed impressive race pace, with Miedecke advancing to second during the opening race before handing over to Gray.

Gray, a Tickford Super2 driver, skillfully maintained the lead against competitors Marco Flack and Tom Hayman in their McLaren, clinching an impressive debut victory by a narrow 0.7-second margin.

In the subsequent one-hour race, the battle between the Ford and McLaren intensified, with the “Blue Oval” emerging victorious once again, this time with a commanding 10-second lead.

Miedecke Motorsport faced significant challenges, having received the new Multimatic-built car shortly before the event. Nonetheless, team owner George Miedecke expressed immense satisfaction and pride in the immediate success of the Mustang.

Overall, the Mustang GT4’s exceptional performance over the weekend not only marked a significant moment in racing history but also highlighted the successful partnership between Miedecke Motorsport and Lubrimaxx.
